AcoustiCeol began in the summer of 2002 when two musicians with nothing in common crossed paths on the open-mic scene of Boston. Shane Dunn, a singer-songwriter who dreamed of starting a unique Boston band with a taste of Irish Folk Rock, met Josh Oliver, a blues guitarist who wanted to branch out to new styles of music while holding to his roots. As a year of writing and playing as a two-piece went by, they ran across one of the area's finest percussionists, Steve Blechner, "Dr. Steve". Steve filled the void, bringing a high caliber of percussive styles to the band. Finally, in August of 2004, Jenna Ordway, an experienced violinist with classical roots, joined the trio and brought profound styles of ornamentation to AcoustiCeol's solid foundation. The power of their distinct sound has propelled them to the forefront of the Boston music scene. It would be impossible to describe the band's flavor in words. If you were to wash together Celtic, Rock, Folk, Blues and Jazz in a sea of sound you might maybe, just maybe be close.
